Lots of you, who are just getting started in the world of hypnosis or who might be experienced somehow and practicing it for some time, may have faced or still face some problems when hypnotizing people. And sometimes you don’t easily find the reason why it didn’t work, but in this lesson, I will talk about 2 very important points in every hypnotic session and they are Context and Intent.

-Context, this is a very important point when doing any hypnotic session. Your success or failure depends on the context. Imagine you are the greatest hypnotist in the world, and just by thinking about, for example, sticking someone’s hand to the table, the prefect words will come out of your mouth and execute what you want.

Imagine yourslef in a business meeting, and you decided that you wanted to stick your co-worker’s hand to the table. And when you give the suggestion for the sticking, do you think that the hand will stick? Prabably not. Because this context is not right for his hand to be stuck, it just doesn’t fit in this context.

But now you are doing a street hypnosis show where you are hypnotizing someone, and there is a large crowd around you which is amazed by your skills. Then you look at one of the people who are watching and maybe wants to be hypnotized, and you tell him that his legs are stuck to the floor, and guess what?? They will more likely be stuck because the context created a frame in his mind, which is that the hypnotist is very skilled and able to make people do many crazy things, including being stuck to the floor.

So you have to be sure that you are in a context where hypnosis is something natural and that everyone can experience it and respond to the hypnotist’s suggestions.

- Intent: this is also a very important point. Intent is basically what you do inside yourself to make your hypnosis work. Let me explain: all you beliefs, thoughts and intentions will affect your sub-communication; as you probably know, words make only about 7% of your entire communication. the rest is done by your unconscious mind, which communicates your confidence levels, your real intentions, your emotional state as your body language or tone of voice etc…

So when hypnotizing someone, last thing you want is your subcommunication srewing up your work. When you have a positive intent when hypnotizing someone, it will reinforce your suggestions and build rapport and trust in the other person’s unconscious. As a conclusion, when you hypnotize someone, you need to think about it as giving them a wonderful gift that they will maybe not have the opportunity to experience somewhere else. You are not the one who needs them to accept but the are the ones who need to benefit and live an amazing experience.

If you believe that it might not work, that’s what their unconscious will belive too. If you believe that you can’t make them forget a number unless you put them into a “deep trance”, you will never be able to get amnesia without somnambulism. So change your beliefs into more positive ones.

If you believe that there is no depth in hypnosis and that the subject is either hypnotized or not, you will be able to give them the most astonishing hallucination after an instant induction and a simple 3 to 1 deepener.

I didn’t fully believe in this (after I learned it from master hypnotist Jeffrey Stephens) until I experienced it and had practical proof of it’s efficiency.

I hope you integrate those two major elements in your hypnosis practice as soon as you can.

Chris
