We like to have fun, but sometimes we need to be a little serious. Read this article, and follow the links or you might regret it later.
I personally believe that hypnosis is a completely natural and safe process. Hypnosis is just focusing the imagination, so provided you act with common sense, and comply with the IAYH Code Of Ethics I think you should be pretty safe.
However, it is 100% essential that you do learn how to be responsible, so that you prevent even the slightest danger from being possible, and know how to deal with troublesome situations if they arise.
The two articles below are NOT optional. Read them carefully, then read them again.
Safety – How To Avoid Hypnotic Mishaps and Disasters
Abreactions Do Happen – Deal With Them Properly
Additional Cautions:
- Different countries and states have different laws regarding hypnosis. Please check your local laws before practicing.
- Avoid doing regression or ANY therapeutic work until you have completed recognised live training courses.
- ALWAYS get full parental consent before doing any hypnosis with anyone under 18. This includes friends and family – ALWAYS ask the parents first. If they say ‘no’ respect that.
- Respect your hypnotic subjects at all times, and avoid doing anything that may cause any harm or embarrassment.
Remember that your job is to show people to power of the imagination in a safe and fun way.
Feel free to have fun, but do not shirk your responsibility.
Everything you do has consequences, and reflects both on who you are, and on how the world views hypnosis itself.
Yours, for once, seriously,
Nathan Thomas
